Spirits in the Canyon
This canyon known as "Eagles Nest Canyon" or "Mile Canyon" is just one of the many sacred and spiritual places in the Canyonlands of the Pecos Rio Grande. It has been inhabited since before 2,500 BC documented by the pictographs left on the shelter walls. Inhabitants as early as 9,700 likely resided in the canyon as evidenced by the remains of the first bison jump. It is said that some of their sacred spirits continue to reside here in the stones of the canyon walls. You can find them on both sides. This capture was taken in RAW at ISO 400, F/13, 1/400 sec, at 55 mm focal length, handheld. This is the terrain we hiked through to get to Bonfire Shelter, Eagle Shelter and Kelly Shelters. These canyons are not for the faint of heart and good balance and stamina are needed. Emile
