I am an actively practicing Internal medical specialist in the Texas border town of Del Rio, Texas located in Val Verde County. I am male, 70 years old and married to Frances for 45 years with two sons, one a MBA in Atlanta and the other a PhD teaching at Stetson Univ. in Deland, Florida. I was in the US Navy for 11 years during the Vietnam era and lived in the orient for 3 years. I have traveled extensively and been doing photography since 1960's first with Canon, Minolta and Nikonus V film cameras and moved to digital in the late 1990's. First digital camera was Agfa 1.6 megapixel.
I am now shooting with Canon EOS 1 Mark IV, 5D and 20D bodies. The lenses I am currently using include: Canon EF70-200 F2.8L, Canon EF 24-105 F4L IS, Sigma 180 F3.5 Macro EX DG, Sigma 50 F1.4 EX DG, Canon EF75-300 F4-5.6 IS and EF-S17-85 IS lenses. I use two Canon 580EX II speedlites with a Canon STE2 transmitter and Canon Remote Controller TC 80N3. I shoot in RAW and JPEG formats and I use an Apple MacBookPro with Aperture 3 and CS3 for my post-processing along with various plug-ins. I pay strict attention to all the elements of good composition, lighting, exposure, framing, color, patterns, line, shape, texture, form, background, depth of field and perspective in my captures. I will do most anything to get the shot and capturing the moment , emotion or what is unique about that particular situation.
I am self-taught with a wide list of influences. I have been a member of and posted on Better Photo, Fan Art Review, National Assoc of Photoshop Professionals, JPG, and Flicker. I have had many photographic exhibitions and art shows, won awards and juried contests and had captures selected for brochures and support for environmental issues. I have multiple Photographic Books published and others in the works.
I hope you enjoy my artistic photography and feel free to comment on any of my captures or contact me personally via email. Emile G. Abbott, MD
